I like using the organza or grosgrain ribbon to make the large (1-1/2inch width) classic boutique bow. The reason is .....
the satin ribbon is too soft and it needs to make a big loop that can look beautiful.

As I alway use the large bow for the bottom layer, it doesn't need a long tail. If you prefer a long tail, I suggest to have 5-8cm more in the length that I suggested above.
